Sofreh is a Mediterranean and Persian restaurant tucked along East 3rd Street in East Los Angeles, offering an inviting spot for those craving freshly grilled kabobs and classic Persian flavors. The restaurant gives off a relaxed yet polished vibe, with a thoughtfully arranged patio that draws in locals looking for a peaceful meal outside rather than a noisy, bustling setting. This makes it a convenient go-to for casual lunches or laid-back dinners when you want to enjoy your food in a calm atmosphere.

The menu centers on traditional kabobs and Middle Eastern staples, including highlights like the Beef Lule and Lamb Chop plate, and beef shish kabob, each served with sides like rice, tzatziki, and fresh salads. The grilled meats come across as freshly cooked, with sizeable portions that are satisfying without being overwhelming. For those wanting an easy handheld option, wraps such as the Chicken Shawarma and Gyro combo are popular, offering flavorful, well-seasoned fillings without excess grease or salt. Side dishes such as their crinkle-cut fries and thick, creamy hummus provide a comforting, familiar touch without feeling overdone.

The patio seating is often mentioned for its charm and usability—wide enough to maintain a comfortable distance between tables and benefiting from natural daylight, making it ideal for a sunny lunch or weekend dinner. While parking can be limited to street spots, the quiet surroundings add to the experience, especially on weekdays when the restaurant is less crowded. Service is friendly and attentive, helping to maintain a welcoming environment where you can linger over a meal or grab something quick if time is tight.

Sofreh’s vibe fits well within the East LA neighborhood, appealing to locals familiar with Mediterranean and Persian dishes as well as curious food explorers testing flavorful kabobs or classic Mediterranean salads. The menu’s offering of shared trays also hints at family-style dining for larger groups, although those looking for very late-day options should note that some favorites like falafel may sell out earlier.

Overall, Sofreh works well if you want a clean, well-presented setting to enjoy grilled meats and vibrant salads straight from a Mediterranean kitchen, particularly if you appreciate outdoor dining with a low-key, residential feel. It’s a place where fresh flavors and modest pricing come together in an approachable spot away from the usual crowded East LA dining hotspots.

Restaurant is super cute, photo op friendly. Food is good. Nothing out of the ordinary. Not greasy, nor salty. Clean. I had a Falafel platter, not bad at all. My sister had a Chicken kabob wrap. She liked it. Hummus was thick and not watered down! So that was a big plus. The hummus portions that came with our food were small though. And they have fat crinkle fries! So good! Shout out to the cooks and staff cleaning up the tables. Vegetarian friendly. Only vegan things on the menu that I noticed were the plain fries and the greek salad (minus the feta) We spend a little over $50 for two people. Parking was easy for me because when we arrived, there was a street parking that was opened and the restaurant was kind of empty. Not sure if there is more parking available Seating is limited so it’s good for smaller groups. Children friendly. And a definitely a nice date spot. I would come here again, if I was around the area and craving Mediterranean/Persian food.

This was my first time eating here and I am definitely coming back! The food is great (freshly cooked and tasty), portions are good and the seating outside is well done.

Very beautiful patio, food is good. Loved the lule kabob. The rice and pita were bit off, could have been better. The meat options are good, freshly grilled. Falafel options are limited, and you wont get those later part of the day, they run out often.

The food was pretty tasty, and the place is actually quite beautiful. For the size of the restaurant they did a great job at making it presentable. The portions are kind of big too so that’s a plus. The service was friendly and the dining area seems very clean. My only issue is that for a sandwich and fries it ran near 35$ and I don’t feel like that’s how much I should spend on my lunch break. I know inflation is a real thing but that is what is keeping me from going there daily for lunch. Other than that it’s worth the try

Perfect. I thought it was lovely! It was charming. It was quiet and peaceful. There was lots of food. It was all really good. I had the beef mix and my husband had the chicken mix. I bought an order of dolmas. I like mine with a lot of lemon. I didn’t request any lemons, next time I will. I didn’t realize there was no parking lot to park in. I parked on the street and we sat down to eat. The lady was very friendly. I was not expecting water without ice. The water was very good and it was cold. The fork was not strong enough to cut the steak. I would recommend this place. I loved how peaceful it was and the food was good. We drove all day from out of state and we were tired and thought this would be a cheap quick meal before going to bed. He hadn’t plan on spending that much. That’s why I said it was expensive. I’m use to getting Dolmas at Heart of Jerusalem and other places cheaper. Unfortunately where I’m from we do not have any restaurants that sell this kind of food near us. When I’m in Colorado I love going to the Heart of Jerusalem and wish more places would do dolmas like they do.
